OTHER WEEKLY RDL: 96ATLV1

With 2017 already passing us by quickly, I've decided to do an every other week lifestyle post focusing on my personal fashion. To be honest, it's an excuse for me to take pictures of myself and spend money, although it will force me to keep a regular schedule with my blogs.

Lately, I've been getting into vintage apparel. Mainly vintage sports apparel representing teams I love. These teams include Duke, Nebraska, the Lakers, Italia soccer, and the Chargers. Those are all of my favorite teams, with the exclusion of Team USA. I am a huge, huge fan of the Olympics. I love both Winter and Summer Olympics, but I do prefer Summer over Winter.

When my parents got a place in Athens, GA, I was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy Atlanta for everything it's worth. From Lennox Square to the Georgia Dome, all the way to eateries such as Holeman & Finch. I love Atlanta, definitely one of my favorite cities in the United States. An underappreciated gem in Atlanta is Centennial Olympic Park. Centennial Olympic Park was built to commemorate and to accommodate the 1996 Olympics.  The 1996 Olympics is famously known for Muhammad Ali lighting the torch during the opening ceremonies. I've provided a video below for those of you who haven't seen it. It's one of the greatest moments in Olympic history.

I've been to COP a handful of times, and every time I go, I feel so proud to be an American. Being such a fan as I am, it gets emotional. I remember when I lived in NY and we took a field trip to West Point, I felt so humbled to be in America, so grateful to be an American. I get identical feelings being in COP. One night a few weeks ago, I went on a raid on eBay searching for vintage Olympic apparel. I found really great pieces, pieces I love that have become apart of my weekly rotation. I feel wonderful when I wear them. They give me intimate feelings when I wear them much like that of Centennial Olympic Park and West Point. Here is a list of the pieces featured in this week's OTHERWEEKLYRDL.

(These clothes are 3 years younger than I am, that shit is crazy to me)

Headwear: 1996 Olympic Cap by Starter

Pin: 1996 Cambodia Olympic Pin by National Olympic Committee of Cambodia

Top: 1996 Olympic Tee by Champion

Jacket: 1996 Olympic Pullover by Starter

Pant: Slim-Low denim by H&M

Footwear: Pierre Balmain, (Balmain sub-brand)

PS. My favorite piece of this week's fit is the Cambodia 1996 national pin. Cambodia remains such an impoverished, third-world country that they cannot even afford to participate in the privilege that is the Olympics. So much of their time is focused on surviving rather than enjoying and training for sports. I found it incredibly awesome they had a pin made specifically for us, I love that. It makes the 1996 Olympics that much more intimate to me.
