Thru the Years: Random Pictures of Me in Air Jordans, 3.28.18
I used to love collecting sneakers, specifically Air Jordan’s. Had over 60 pairs until I sold the majority of them after 2012 when I came across a pair of boots I fell in love with. 6 Years later, I’m still in love with those boots, but I do have a few pairs of Jordan’s still laying around. Most are in possession for nostalgic purposes with the exception of the XX9, which are my favorite sneakers I've ever balled in. If you haven’t hooped in a pair, I suggest you do. I digress, here are random pictures of me in Air Jordan’s with a brief background story behind each photo. Most, if not all, are comical. Enjoy!

Shoe: Air Jordan III Pure
This was my first pair of retro Air Jordan’s. They were $135 and I bought them at the Mall of America with my cousins while on summer vacation. My mom gave me $150 to buy some new shoes and I remember when I came back to show the family the goods, they were surprised at how much it was. We all had a good laugh about me jumping higher.

Shoe: Jordan CP3
Dat bwoy eatin’. This was taken at Crossroads movie theatre in Cary. I forgot who I was there with, probably my first girlfriend, but damn look at how the jeans layover the shoe. Fuegoooo. This was actually one of my favorite sneakers because of how comfortable they were to play ball in. I am wearing Hurley, as I went thru a phase where all my shirts were either Hurley or Quicksilver in 2008.

Shoe: Air Jordan VII Raptors, DMP Package
I remember I got this DMP package on sale for $200 at the Champs Sports in Cary Towne Center. I was with AJ and I asked if they had my size when I saw the sale. They did and it was an automatic bop. This was taken in one of my homie’s rooms while he was talking to his mom about college in the kitchen. Upon further observation, man, what the hell kind of posture/pose am I doing?? Next photo!!!

Shoe: Air Force Fusion V
Shout out J. Breezy, aka Sticky Fingers, aka Schlack for taking this photo. To be honest, I’m not really playing PS2 or even looking at a television. This was all theatrics to finesse Myspace for the likes and comments. PC4PC, who owns?

Shoe: Air Jordan III Flip
These were my grails. My favorite pair of Jordan’s is the III with the IV a close second. Besides pairs MJ wore on court, these are my favorite. This was luxury before luxury. Creativity before creativity. The leather inside lining, the quality elephant print, this is truly one beautiful pair of sneakers. Oh, about the photo. I’m at Ocean Beach visiting my sister in San Diego. My older cousins from Long Beach drove to visit and one of them took this photo of me. I wonder if the mural is still there, guess I’ll see this summer.

Shoe: Air Jordan III Flip
The trip to DC with the family and Big E! We walked around and took photos. I had the Graduation Kanye shirt with the top hat along with a black Zoo York jacket I got on clearance from the Pac Sun at Cary Towne Center that a girl in my 3rd period English III class said looked like a trash bag. I told shorty, another girl’s trash is another girl’s treasure. And you know!

Shoe: Air Jordan I Bred, DMP Package
Taken in my driveway by Schlack, again. My dude! I don’t know why this photo was taken, but I used to rock fake frames to look studious. I’m not sure if that’s how it came off looking back at this photo, but I sure felt it at the time.

Shoe: Air Jordan VI Oreo
One of the greatest colorways of the VIs ever made. Minus the jacket, this whole outfit was from the Smithfield Outlets. My boys and I would make the trip every other month or so to get away from the Triangle and flavor other shopping centers. Shout L Boogie for taking this photo, this was one was fire.

Shoe: Air Jordan III Stealth
This was at an Amtrak station in Cary. I had finished visiting my friends back home with Meezy on a weekend away from UNCC. Funny thing is, this pair of sneakers ended up being signed in the next few days by J. Cole at an album release signing he had at FYE at the Hanes Mall in Winston. Sheesh, I want to scream at myself for wearing this outfit, but that’s a part of the fun of it, right?

Shoe: Air Jordan XII Flu Game
Taken in front of my adolescent home. My mom purchased these for me for Christmas of 2009. I wore these into the new year with old hair. This is the longest my hair has ever gotten, well maybe today might rival it, but still, I looked unfamiliar to myself during this time of my life, which is ironically what I needed back then.
P.S. – You peep the ballin’ shorts under the cargos?! Anybody’s ankles could’ve gotten Hot-Sauced-flipped-and-dipped-broken back then.

Shoe: Air Jordan III White Cement
I camped out in front of CTC for these kicks. I bought 2 pairs from Finishline. Dude asked me debit or credit when I went to pay and I told him neither and handed him cash. It was a boss move at the time, and I still have the 2nd pair deadstocked in my closet. I’m not sure if I’ll ever wear them, they mean too much to me at this point. The photo though, this is me in California at a car meet sitting in a right-hand drive. A few moments before, I tripped on someone’s front license plate walking between cars because it was protruding quite a bit. I caught myself and did an accidental push-up in case anyone was looking.

Shoe: Air Jordan IV Military Blue
Taken at the Mall of America or somewhere in Minnesota. This was the summer I was having bad anxiety attacks, but damn, at least the kicks were on point. The first night I bought these sneakers, I texted my 4th grade crush and we had a great conversation catching up. We vowed to get up, but never ended up getting up. Still, it was cool to converse with someone. I was thankful for any conversation I had that summer.

Shoe: Air Jordan III True Blue
This was taken in someone’s driveway. I don’t remember where or who I was with, but the photo looked artsy to me at the time because of the bird droppings. I used to think I could turn anything into art, ha. Who was that kid and where is he now??

Shoe: Air Jordan X Chicago
I remember being at Ben’s crib for the weekend and these shoes released. I tried to buy a pair off Finishline at 12am but the site kept crashing. Turns out they charged me for about 10 pairs but I never received a confirmation. I went to Concord Mills with Meezy and bought a pair. This photo was taken in the Comm building of Elon. Second semester I would make the trip to record raps with AJ every weekend. Even if the music wasn’t good, the times were great.
