Shooting with Stephan: Downtown II, 4.24.19
We met up at the underground parking deck across from the Mint Museum downtown. Because of my hiatus from photography, I wanted to sharpen my skills, so I brought my original Canon 600D to shoot instead of the 5D. We began our way around the city beginning with Romare-Bearden Park. Seeing as it was a Thursday, the park was mildly-populated. We’re in the middle of pollen-season, so there weren’t as many folks in the grass picnicking, but people were out riding bikes, skateboarding, and walking. As we made our way around the city, Stephan said he wanted to go to what would be Central Avenue’s bridge to get a shot of the skyline. I had taken a photo there before but couldn’t remember exactly where it was. He said he passes the bridge often and figured the location of one of the pics I sent him a while back. As we walked there, we conversed about life and how boring a 9-5 is. Yes, there is stability, but I believe there is also stability on the other side of courage shall we pursue our own greatness. The focal point of most of our conversation during the shooting session was to go for it. Want to be a rapper? Go for it. Want to be a photographer? Go for it. Want to be a doctor? Go for it. Want to open up your own restaurant? Go for it. Want to live out your dreams? Just go for it. As day turned to night, with all the walking we did, we built up an appetite. We decided to grab a plate of hibachi at a joint right outside Romare-Bearden. I got teriyaki chicken and the plate was good. Not Ishi good, but pretty good for what it was. When we got out, I snapped one last pic and we called it a night.
Check out 11 photos from the session below, as well as my favorite. Leave a comment at the bottom!!
