Impressions of the 25th Annual Charlotte Autoshow November 8th 2018

When I was younger, my parents used to buy me Hot Wheels cars to collect. One of my favorite ones I had was a dark blue/purple Lamborghini Countach that was heat activated and had a snake graphic on the hood when you touched it long enough. Eventually, I grew out of collecting Hot Wheels cars when I began watching wrestling only to begin again my sophomore year of high school.

This past weekend, I went to photograph the 25th Charlotte Autoshow. It was located in the Charlotte Convention Center. Upon walking in, there were loads of new cars from different automobile makers such as Mercedes-Benz, Jeep, Bentley, Honda, and (my favorite) Toyota. Automobiles have been such an integral part of the human experience for over a century, therefore they are good timestamps of our ideas and our progress. I’m not a car enthusiast by any means, but automobiles are a general interest for me, especially concept cars.

It was $10 at the door for a ticket, which wasn’t bad. It wasn’t too crowded neither, which made for a better experience. Not only were pictures permitted for regular guests, but anybody could sit in almost any car they were showing. That was the fun part. Of course the Bentleys and Maserati’s were off-limits, but any other car you could pretty much sit in and pretend to be the owner of, even if only for a few seconds. I sat in all the Toyota models, including the famous Land Cruiser, 4Runner, and the newest modeled Sequoia. My favorite had to be the 2018 Camry. Boasting a conservative 41/29mpg for the 4 cylinder, it’s not only eco-friendly, but it’s sporty and luxurious as well. Unlike many of my peers, I’ve never purchased a car in my life. I’m fortunate not to have to in the past, but I’m looking forward to my first automobile purchase. I’m intrigued by the 2018 Camry, which I’m sure will be my first.

If not, I’ll keep looking forward.
